Unboxing: Review of Frostbeard Lit Box September 2019

“Back to Wizard School”

Frostbeard Lit Box September 2019 Unboxing

It is no secret I adore Frostbeard Candles. I was introduced to them when OwlCrate included the Cirque de Reves candle in their February 2017 box … and I was hooked. So it is incredibly exciting that they now have their own subscription box!

The Frostbeard Lit Box is a themed monthly box that includes their exclusive, limited monthly candle along with 4-6 bookish goodies that compliment the theme. Goodies range from useable items to wearable items to edible treats. (They are aware of allergies and strive to include gluten free, vegan options most months). You can customize your box by choosing the 8oz candle for $40 or two containers of wax melts for $35 (each container has 6 melts).

The September 2019 Back to Wizard School box was their first ever box … here’s what was inside!

I always start with my favourite item and that has to be these amazing Lemon Drop old fashioned hard candies from Claey’s. Ohmygosh, they are so very delicious and gluten free! A really clever nod to our favourite old Professor!

Out of Print House socks. It really doesn’t get much better than Out of Print socks and these colourful house socks are the quality and fun I love from the company. They are size L, which are a bit big for my feet … I hope in future boxes they might include the smaller size.

Mischief Managed wooden bookmark. This lovely woodmark, created by North to South Designs, features laser-engraved footprints and the words “Mischief Managed”. It is another clever nod to everyone’s favourite magical Marauders Map!

“Still Waiting for my Damn Letter” sticker by Bookwormboutique. I mean, aren’t we all? This cheeky decal sticker is hilarious and I turned it into a magnet with some magnetic tape. I love that it is a speech bubble so I can position around various pictures on my fridge … it’s hilarious.

Harry Potter Spell Pencils by LZPencils. I just love getting these kind of pencils in my subscription boxes! I seemingly can’t get enough. These high quality pencils feature the spells “Expelliarmus” and “Silencio”. My Harry Potter obsessed daughter has absconded with the purple pencil and I have proudly taken the blue (hello, Ravenclaw).

And of course the monthly candle! September’s candle of the month was “Back to Wizard School” featuring notes of treacle tart, brandied pear and fallen leaves. This candle is amazing! I wasn’t sure what to expect as I’m not a fan of overly sweet candles but this isn’t at all. There is a sweetness of pear tart balanced so well with smokey, crisp fallen leaves. It is delicious and perfect for fall.

Overall Rating: A+

  • Lemon Drops: 3/3

  • Harry Potter Socks: 2/3 (Just a little too big for me and a little too small for the hubby).

  • Woodmark: 3/3

  • Harry Potter Pencils: 3/3

  • Decal Sticker: 3/3

  • Candle: 4/3

I adored this box! The candle, the candies, the socks … a box with lots of useful goodies that enhanced the fun of the monthly candle. I love that the items included are fairly gender neutral and as such the entire family enjoys the box. My daughter taking the pencil, I took the socks, hubby took the candies. It is a bit of a cost at $40 usd plus shipping, but to me it is worth the cost of the high quality items that support small business and ethical business practices!

Note on Rating: I rate each item out of 3 possible points: 1 for quality, 1 for usefulness, and 1 for if I personally liked the item/fandom. I then assign an overall letter rating for the whole box.
